Bring your beloved pets—and your fellow animal-loving friends—to our annual Blessing of the Animals, held outdoors at First Congregational Church of Bakersfield in partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Church.
This joyful tradition celebrates the furry, feathered, and scaled companions who fill our lives with love. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, the service reminds us that all of God’s creation is sacred.
🐶 Pets Welcome: Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, turtles, every creature great and small. Please keep pets leashed or crated for safety. You may also bring a photo of a pet (past or present), or even a favorite stuffed animal, for a blessing.
🐾 Pet Adoptions: New this year, Kern County Animal Services will be on-site with several adoptable dogs. Each adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and treatment for just $20. You could go home with a new best friend!
🛒 Donations: We’re collecting pet food and supplies for the Bakersfield Pet Food Pantry. A simple way to share the blessing with animals in need.
🍧 Snow Cones: Tony’s Snowtime Truck will be serving up cool treats for purchase.
This is more than an event, it’s a chance to connect, give thanks, and maybe even grow your family by four paws.
Invite your neighbors, family, and friends. All are welcome!
