Child Haven (established in 1974) is an out-reach program sponsored by the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. Child Haven is a church-sponsored preschool; therefore, it is intended that the spirit of Christian love will be expressed by the staff and in turn it is our belief that children will come to accept and value one another. Child Haven serves children from varied backgrounds; therefore a nurturing, healthy, and safe learning environment is what Child Haven strives to provide.

Program Philosophy

The educational philosophy of Child Haven is based on the belief that toddlers and preschool children learn and develop through age appropriate experiences and play. Play provides natural learning interactions and assists children as they develop a sense of trust, social skills, and develop self-esteem. Children develop at their own individual pace and their development is best supported by a setting that provides a developmentally appropriate environment.

Child Haven is a child care center licensed to serve up to 74 children, from the ages of 2 years through their 7th birthday, year around. You may choose anywhere from 5 days per week to as few as 2 days per week. The facility opens at 6:45 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. Child Haven closes for all holidays. All children must be current with their immunizations and have a physical examination and T.B. screening within  30 days of enrollment.

Child Haven provides a teacher-student ratio of 12:1 for preschool aged children and a 6:1 ratio for toddlers.

Child Haven serves breakfast, lunch,  and an afternoon snack. We make every effort to provide nutritious meals that  are wholesome, low in sugar, sodium, and fat.
